A guest recently commented that the Lord God must have "lapped up" this place. He was probably referring to the exuberant nature, the multifaceted interplay between lake, mountain, forest and alpine pastures. Our ancestors chose this blessed place 120 years ago to provide themselves and summer holidaymakers with an honest and lush base for mountainous times. Welcome to our hiking hotel on the Turracher Höhe. In Styria. Or maybe in Carinthia? ;-)

The view from your bedroom in the morning: the summit and the lake flatter you, the first steps after breakfast - out into the fresh air, endless hiking trails. Gentle with just a few metres in altitude, or would you prefer a brisk climb up to the heights, as sports enthusiasts and fans do so well? Or would you rather celebrate the saddle festivals as they fall, conquer the bike trails and get your fill of nature - without feeling full?

summer in our hiking hotel?
We love it up here at the Jägerwirt, simply because we don't want it to be hot. To be honest, I much prefer the fresh air, forest, lake, all the comfort, these Bali spa treatments and the delicious cuisine to travelling somewhere south. The Huabn hike has become our highlight of the year!"

Whether it's an alpine walk or a summit tour, a family hike or a panoramic trail - there's something for everyone here. Here in the gentle Nockberge mountains, where green ridges and majestic peaks rise above 2,400 metres, lies a true paradise for hikers - with the Turracher Höhe right in the middle. At around 1,800 metres above sea level, you can experience what it means to walk high above everyday life - step by step, view by view, breath by breath.

The gently rounded mountain ridges are made for enjoyable high-altitude trails. Between them, tranquil mountain lakes sparkle, stone pine forests exude their aromatic scent and the panorama stretches as far as the Karawanken on a clear day.
So it's no wonder that people say that alpine hiking was invented here.
The Turracher Höhe is located in the heart of the Nockberge UNESCO Biosphere Reserve - and it is precisely here that what is often difficult elsewhere can be achieved: impressive peaks can be scaled even without alpine experience - with shoes, heart and stamina, but without any climbing equipment. Then the newly expanded Turracher Höhe trail area is just the place for you - on the high plateau between Carinthia and Styria, a mountain bike experience of a special kind awaits you: flow trails, jump tracks, kids' area, e-bike tours - and all this amidst a breathtaking natural backdrop at 1,800 metres.

The centrepiece of the trail area is the 6-kilometre Kornock Flowtrail - a spectacular ride directly from the mountain station into the valley. Natural, varied and unique in Carinthia & Styria, it offers a playful carousel of bends, smooth waves, numerous footbridges and bridges as well as optional jumps for that extra kick and real flow feeling.
Advanced trail fans will get their money's worth with Schmuggler, Zirben, Ibahaps, Almrush, Teahouse and the Üwi Jumptrail. Technically demanding, versatile and combinable - the trails make the area the perfect playground for stylish runs and individual lines.
