Feel the magic of Asia at the hotel in Styria
Our Bali Spa
Whether yoga, Ayurveda or Tai Chi - Far Eastern teachings, practices and sports are all the rage. And at the Seehotel Jägerwirt, visitors can expect something unique in this respect: although we are located on Austrian soil, guests have the opportunity to enjoy a pinch of Bali feeling during their holiday with us. Our Bali spa makes it possible. In this blog post, we present this unique offer in more detail and reveal what prompted us to create this hideaway.
From Austria to Bali and back again
Tropical rainforest and palm trees, geckos and monkeys, coral reefs and rice-growing areas, temples and religious ceremonies. All of this is inextricably linked with Bali. And then there are the perfect waves - a dream for anyone who wants to conquer them on a surfboard. And it was precisely these waves that initially attracted us - and above all our host Alex - so magically. When we received a job offer on the island, we swapped our home in Austria for Bali and soon found ourselves right in the middle of it. In this colourful scenario.
To be more precise, we lived on the Indonesian island for 17 years and ran a boutique hotel, a vegan restaurant, a surf school and a yoga studio there. We also built the first downhill bike park in Southeast Asia. We were deeply impressed by the friendliness, warmth, calmness and helpfulness of the Balinese people. And also the fact that the Hindu faith means that both worlds - that of the living and that of the dead - are of equal value. Almost two decades later, we returned to Austria, full of impressions and infected by this warm hospitality, which is deeply engraved in our hearts. And which we now live by at the Seehotel Jägerwirt.
Mentally, we are also still drawing on this special time. We have adopted a growth mindset that enables us to always look for solutions - even if they are sometimes hidden under a mountain of challenges. We have also been practising "first principle thinking" ever since. This means that we question a lot and often come up with more creative solutions. And something else sprouted in us: the desire to bring a pinch of Bali flair to the Austrians. The idea of a Bali spa in our hotel in Styria was born.
Between aromatic oils and soothing treatments
Our Bali Spa is small and cosy - and that is precisely why it is so intimate and inspiring. The centrepiece is a Balinese four-poster bed for traditional wraps. There is also a massage table, a whirlpool bath and a steam sauna. In combination with dimmed lighting, fragrant incense sticks, relaxing Bali music and aromatic oils, the result is an authentic scenario that switches off the world around you for a while. Instead, space and time are created to immerse yourself in a new cosmos.
The repertoire of Balinese treatments ranges from massages and Bali Boreh - traditional wraps made from various spices - to traditional full-body scrubs. These are carried out in the Bali Spa at our hotel in Styria by our trained masseuses Budi and Iluh. Both come from the mountains of Bali and therefore not only understand their craft perfectly, but also transport the joie de vivre and openness directly to Austria.
It pays to book early
If you've now acquired a taste for it, you can make a booking enquiry either via the website or by telephone. Especially in winter, it's worth being early and booking an appointment at the Bali Spa as soon as possible. It is also possible to hire the Bali Spa privately, for example to enjoy a soothing break for two. This special retreat is also open to day guests. Now there is only one thing left to say: Selamat datang! Or: Welcome - we look forward to seeing you!
