Ideas for a company event or seminar in winter

Team building at the Jägerwirt

Professional seminars and team events are booming because their relevance is undisputed. Not only can skills and knowledge be consolidated, but new knowledge can also be acquired. Staff parties and activities that focus on togetherness can also strengthen the team and get everyone pulling in the same direction.

However, this requires the right location and meaningful programme items. Outdoor sporting activities in particular are perfect for this. On the one hand, they provide an excellent counterpoint to the thought-intensive parts of a workshop.

On the other hand, another positive aspect comes into play: fresh air. This has a positive effect on our brain, our concentration and performance as well as our mood. A good mood is therefore pre-programmed. Provided the whole thing takes place in a motivating environment. And in this respect, we can count ourselves lucky at Turracher Höhe. Because here, where Carinthia meets Styria, winter usually starts early, making it possible to organise varied seminars and company events.

The reason? Where the mountain station has already been built in many other areas, the first lift is just there. At just under 1800 metres. So snowflakes are already accompanying us in autumn. But what fun and action-packed outdoor adventures are on offer? We present options for a successful seminar or company event in winter in Styria.

Winter activities

Fluffy snow, clear air and magical, glittering trees. These are important basic ingredients for winter events with the whole workforce. But it only gets really exciting with the right activities. Here are a few ideas:

  • Skiing: The winter sports classic par excellence never goes out of fashion. And from the Seehotel Jägerwirt you can be at the valley stations in just two minutes. 42 kilometres of pistes and 14 lifts are right on the doorstep. Not enough action? Then perhaps the 1.5-kilometre-long Funslope on the Schafalm chairlift is just the thing. There are three lines to choose from in the Beginner, Medium and Advanced categories. Round off the sporting experience with a cosy stop at one of the huts. Whether it's the K-Alm at the valley station of the Knornockbahn, the AlmZeit hut at the mountain station of the Panoramabahn or our own ski hut, the Sonnalm at the Sonnenbahn - a rustic ambience and culinary delights await the team.
  • Cross-country skiing: It doesn't always have to be the pistes that are conquered together, but hours spent together on cross-country skis can also bring a team together. If the whole thing takes place in a dreamlike winter landscape, the hectic pace of everyday life quickly disappears and makes room for stimulating conversations or funny anecdotes. Whether classic or skating: the Turracher Höhe scores with around 15 kilometres of double-tracked trails in various lengths. You can choose from easy trails along the frozen Turracher See to challenging routes in higher areas.
  • Winter hiking: Those who prefer to set off without skis and appreciate the decelerating effect of a winter walk can organise a break for the crew in the midst of snow-covered pine forests, glistening alpine meadows and frozen mountain lakes. The 1.7-kilometre Turracher See winter hiking trail, which leads around the lake, is a great place to start. The 4.2-kilometre Zirben winter hiking trail or the 5.9-kilometre 3-lake circuit are slightly longer. If you prefer something more challenging, choose the 9.4 kilometre Saureggen winter hiking trail.
  • Snowshoe hiking: Head cross-country on snowshoes - another activity that can be used to spice up company events or seminars in winter in Styria in no time at all. How about combining this adventure with the acquisition of new knowledge? If you set off with a biosphere park ranger, for example, you will learn interesting facts about the flora and fauna at over 2,000 metres above sea level. And the ranger also provides the appropriate equipment.
  • Ice skating: Well, when was the last time you slipped into ice skates? And your colleagues? For many, it's been quite a few years. Reason enough to try this fun activity together. Nothing could be easier on the Turracher Höhe, as Lake Turrach is covered with a layer of ice up to one metre thick for an average of six months a year due to its high alpine location - ideal conditions for mastering exciting challenges on ice skates or trying your hand at pirouetting. The ice rink is also floodlit in the evening.
  • Curling: Another idea for a sociable winter activity as part of a seminar or company event in Styria is a game of curling. This is also possible on this natural ice rink in the middle of the Turracher Höhe. And afterwards? The team warms up again with a hearty snack and hot drinks.
  • Winter tobogganing: Would you like a little more adrenalin? With the "Nocky Flitzer" winter toboggan run, the Turracher Höhe has an Alpine rollercoaster up its sleeve that is second to none. The 1.6-kilometre-long route leads from the Panoramabahn mountain station at 2,000 metres above sea level down to the Turracher Höhe at 1,763 metres. Including sharp bends, roundabouts, wave tracks, jumps and breathtaking panoramic views.
  • Yoga: But it can also be more mindful and thoughtful - for example with a yoga session for the whole company. And don't worry: yoga is so varied that there is a suitable exercise for everyone. Yoga also has many benefits. The Indian teaching not only strengthens the muscles, but can also lift the mood.
  • Ice bathing: It is the trend par excellence to take an ice-cold dip even when the temperatures are less inviting. Either directly in a mountain lake or in a tub or hot tub. This unusual challenge allows everyone to test their own limits - which can also be beneficial for team spirit. Essential here: the right breathing technique.
  • Retreats : Retreats are also an option. This is generally understood to mean a planned spiritual break, a retreat from familiar surroundings or a gathering of new energy and strength. But new knowledge can also be generated in the process. An exciting combination in any case. At the Seehotel Jägerwirt, we therefore focus on retreats and offer a wide range of options, from anti-burnout to communication packages. Because we always have the most important ingredients for an exciting retreat up our sleeve: an inspiring environment, multifunctional seminar rooms and a host who is also a gifted speaker, author and mentor.
